60 Day Photo Challenge [Day 8]

Day 08 - A picture that makes you laugh.

Is there something 'Gruene' in my teeth?

Just thinking about this photo makes me laugh! My family was eating lunch at the Gristmill in Gruene, Texas after a week of camping and floating the river and Hailey and I were goofing around. Get it? Gruene (pronounced Green)? Ha! I love that everytime my sisters and I are together there is sure to be a lot of laughter.  [Insidentally, the picture from Day 2 of the Photo Challene was taken outside the same restaurant a few years before]

I Wanna Hold Your Hand

ImaginLight Photography
These hands holding you on your weddding day are the hands of your best friend,
young and strong and full of love for you as you promise to love each other
today, tomorrow and forever.

These are the hands that will work alongside yours as together you build your future.

These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other.

These are the hands that will hold you when fear and grief wracks your mind.

These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy.

These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children.

These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one.

These are the hands that will give you strenth when you need it.

And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch

This was the first reading at our wedding 6 years ago. That day I held my best friends hand and said "I do" in front of our family and friends. Since then he has held my hand through moves, job changes, silliness, challenges, celebrations, the birth of our darling daughters and much, much more. Chris, I love you with all my heart. I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that I can face whatever it brings as long as you are beside me holding my hand.

Family Frame

I haven't had a lot of time for crafting lately so I've had to keep my projects short and sweet. This week I stole a few quiet moments to create a centerpiece for our family photo gallery.

I've seen several signs/collage frames that would look lovely there, but their price tag was less lovely so I dug through my frame stash and created this...

Love in our family flows strong and deep,
leaving us special memories to treasure and keep

...for free (now that's a lovely price)

I typed up the quote and fussed with the size and font until I was happy with it. After it was printed I arranged the text on the back of the frame and secured it with a little tape. The I broke out my trusty paint pens (one thick and one thin) and traced the quote on the glass. Easy Peasy!

Gotta love a project that is low on cost and difficulty and high on impact

60 Day Photo Challenge [Day 7]

Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item(s)

Obviously this is not a picture of my most treasured items, but it does represent them. I cherish the memories I have made with family and friends over the years and what better way to capture those moments then with pictures.  I have pictures from my kindergarden graduation, first communion, birthday parties, dance recitals, college days, wedding day,...well you get the idea.  Flipping through these tactile reminders of days gone by never fails to put a smile on my face.  I can't wait to share these pictures (okay, maybe not the college ones) with my girls and to show them pictures of their early childhood. And someday, when I'm a little old lady I will look at my collection of pictures and be reminded that I have lived a very full, happy life surrounded with love.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to an amazing man, father and grandfather ("Pop")!
I hope age 64 is filled with happiness, health, and blessings beyond measure.

FRAMED!

I am a hoarder! Not like a crazy as-seen-on-tv hoarder, I am a project hoarder! I store up all these great ideas from blogs and magazines and HGTV... I get caught up in dreams of fabulous crafts and DIY glory...I plot and plan and buy supplies...and.... well, that's the problem I don't ever seem to finish any of these projects, leaving me with lots and lots of supplies.  I have recently promised myself (and my very patient hubby) that I will not purchase supplies for another project until I have finished all most of the projects that are living in my craft closet. (Mind you this does not mean that I won't hoard ideas on Pinterest, which is not helping my problem by the way) I'm hoping to share some of my successes on this little blog if for no other reason than to motivate me to finish more stuff! That being said, here is the first one....

I have an embarisingly large number of photos that were purchased, but never framed and I have always wanted a family photo wall. I have always shyed away from it because frames are not cheap! However on a recent trip to the dollar store (LOVE that place!) the stars aligned and I stumbled across a bunch of great frames at even better prices. So I pulled out all of the pictures we have ordered and stored away and got to framing.

I layed the pictues out in the living room floor, moved them around until I was happy with the arrangement and then taped paper templates to the wall to serve as a hanging guide.

I used a stamp pad and a little ingenuity to mark where the nails should go. (OCD? Maybe... but I wanted to make sure the frames were placed 'just so')

Sorry for the craptastic picture - the circled area is the stamp left by the sawtooth on the back of the frame
A little help from Hubby....and Wah-La
Ignore the blank frame...it's a project for another day

Love the results and feeling excited and motivated to tackle more projects!

I'm linking up to these parties (for the first time!)

60 Day Photo Challenge [Day 6]

Day 06 - A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day.

I would love to trade places with Kate Middleton Duchess of Cambridge. I'm sure being royalty is not without challenges, but really, who wouldn't want to be a princess for a day.  Access to her closet and and excuse to wear a cute facinator wouldn't hurt either.

Who would you want to trade places with?

2 Months

She is my blue eyed, fair skiinned, laid-back girl. She is just the right mix of brand new and oddly familiar and this week she is 2 months old.

Stats:

Weight - 9# (5%)
Height - 23" (77%)
Head - 37mm (17%)

She is bright eyed and very alert always looking around she responds to our voices (and lyvi's squeals) by turning towards us and she smiles...big gummy grins. She is happy most of the time and rarely cries. She has started cooing and making other sweet baby noises and she still grunts and growls...quite a talker. She likes playing in the floor and is not nearly as angry about tummy time as her older sister was. In fact, she is already showing tremendous head control. Lyvi is never far from her side and regularly ask to play in the floor with her or to hold her.

She is a good sleeper (*please don’t let this jinx us), and seems to be more comfortable sleeping in the swing or in her bouncer. During the day she takes cat naps but can be counted on to take a longer nap in the afternoon (12:30 – 2:30ish) and again after dinner (7:30 – 11:30 or later). At night she's up to eat around 2:30am and again around 6am.

I still catch myself comparing her to Lyvi and I am constantly surprised at just how different they are.  Time is flying by so fast and while part of me wants it to slow down so I can savour each delicious moment of baby, the other part of me can't wait to see her personality develop and to watch her play with Alyvia.

**I really hate to be one of those 'I can't believe how fast she's growing up people', but really I can't figure out where the time went. Before she was born I had really good intentions to make a cutesie set of "montly" onsies for her to wear for these mothly photo ops, but time slipped away from me.  After she was born I vowed to make them....as you can see we are now two months in and no onsies...maybe it will happen for month 3"

Day 05 - A picture of your favorite memory

Thanksgiving 2003
This topic immediatly brought to mind several great memories, among them our wedding and the births of our daughters, but if pressed I would have to say the day Chris proposed is my favorite memory. It's the day that started this crazy, beautiful ride that we have been on for the last 8 years.
