Guess who's back...back again

My intentions were to jump back into this blog without making reference to my hiatus, but then I realized it has been 5ish months, and that really can't be ignored. So to the few of you (if any) that haven't totally given up on me...thanks. I'd like to promise to be a better blogger, but I can't guarantee that it will happen, so I will promise to try to do better (if not for you, for me...life flies by so quickly that it deserves to be documented for later reflection)

Fair warning,my efforts to document the present will be balanced with a fair amount of back peddling to cover such important events as
- Alyvia's birthday
- our trip to the pumpkin patch
- thanksgiving
- holiday randomness
- ER adventures
-whatever else strikes me as important/documentable

Ice Cream, You Scream

I've always wanted to host brunches, lunches, dinners and cute themed parties, but somewhere along the way I decided that I couldn't do these things until I had the perfect house with the perfect furniture and decor and of course the perfect dishes. Recently I realized just how ridiculous that is and decided to heck with it...so I threw together this little social for the people in our building.

My husband delivered the invites

I gathered up toppings...yummy, yummy toppings!

Whipped up some ice cream cone cupcakes

And waited for our guests.

I'm so glad that I got over my hang ups.The evening was a success, we met new neighbors, visited with friends, enjoyed some ice cream and had some fun. I can't wait to do it again!

60 Day Photo Challenge [Day 9]

Day 09 - A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.
Me & Mom on my wedding day

My mom is my best friend and I have always known that I could go to her with anything and everything...and I always have. She has gotten me through all sorts of things and helped me anytime I need an extra pat on the back, a push in the right direction, or just someone to listen.

60 Day Photo Challenge [Day 8]

Day 08 - A picture that makes you laugh.

Is there something 'Gruene' in my teeth?

Just thinking about this photo makes me laugh! My family was eating lunch at the Gristmill in Gruene, Texas after a week of camping and floating the river and Hailey and I were goofing around. Get it? Gruene (pronounced Green)? Ha! I love that everytime my sisters and I are together there is sure to be a lot of laughter.  [Insidentally, the picture from Day 2 of the Photo Challene was taken outside the same restaurant a few years before]

I Wanna Hold Your Hand

ImaginLight Photography
These hands holding you on your weddding day are the hands of your best friend,
young and strong and full of love for you as you promise to love each other
today, tomorrow and forever.

These are the hands that will work alongside yours as together you build your future.

These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other.

These are the hands that will hold you when fear and grief wracks your mind.

These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy.

These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children.

These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one.

These are the hands that will give you strenth when you need it.

And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch

This was the first reading at our wedding 6 years ago. That day I held my best friends hand and said "I do" in front of our family and friends. Since then he has held my hand through moves, job changes, silliness, challenges, celebrations, the birth of our darling daughters and much, much more. Chris, I love you with all my heart. I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that I can face whatever it brings as long as you are beside me holding my hand.

Family Frame

I haven't had a lot of time for crafting lately so I've had to keep my projects short and sweet. This week I stole a few quiet moments to create a centerpiece for our family photo gallery.

I've seen several signs/collage frames that would look lovely there, but their price tag was less lovely so I dug through my frame stash and created this...

Love in our family flows strong and deep,
leaving us special memories to treasure and keep

...for free (now that's a lovely price)

I typed up the quote and fussed with the size and font until I was happy with it. After it was printed I arranged the text on the back of the frame and secured it with a little tape. The I broke out my trusty paint pens (one thick and one thin) and traced the quote on the glass. Easy Peasy!

Gotta love a project that is low on cost and difficulty and high on impact
